Test procrastination

Today is the last day of finals, and I’m done. But as of this point, if you’re not done, and you have a test in the testing center, you are in trouble. I’ve never seen a longer line for the testing center. The line is out the door. It is past the Brimhall building. It goes past the McKay building. It is almost to the JFSB. I wonder what happens if they go to close tonight and there is still a huge line.

Dropping like flies in a frog tank

I don’t know what it is about this time of the year and people getting engaged. I think it must be the flowering trees. They release a psudo-toxin that makes newly returned missionaries pull out rings and propose to the first freshman girl they find. Maybe it is cupid trying to get in as much extra business to pay for the taxes he owes. Maybe something about the sun being directly over the equator causes a shift in the earths magnetic field causing an excess of marital hormones to be generated in college co-eds. I’m not sure what it is, but it just seems like a lot of people are getting hitched. Maybe one of these years I’ll join them in the craziness.

If you are one of the accused, you might want to check out beforeforever.byu.edu which has worksheets for planning weddings and other pre-marital information.

I found air

I feel like I can breathe again. And breathing means blogging. It has been a busy semester, and I’ve had to cut back on a lot of things in my life. I’ve lost a few friends, a few ounces of sanity, and I haven’t been able to blog quite like I used to. In fact, I blogged more in each of the first four months of 2006 separately than I have in all of 2007 so far.

Hopefully with the semester finishing up, I’ll be able to breathe. I hope I can be more social, make some friends, and blog. Next week is the first week of the rest of my life. World, get ready, because I’m back.

I love you

I love a lot of people. I love my friends, I love my family. I love my roommates, and I love many of my classmates.

The problem is, I can’t say so. The word love is so tightly tied to romantic interest that it makes it difficult to use it in any other context.

I spy

From the dream dictionary entry for “spy”:

To dream that you are a spy, indicates your mistrust of others and your tendencies to be in everyone’s business and affairs. Perhaps you have recently stumbled upon some information that was not meant for your eyes.

I don’t know about my mistrust of others. I would like to think that I’m a very trusting person. The part about recently stumbling upon some information, that is probably more true.

I think dream dictionaries are like horoscopes: you can find evidence that supports them if you want to.

Benches added along Y trail

Yesterday I was hiking the Y, just for fun and exercise, and I noticed a few new things.

First, they had a new gate and fences around the bottom that make it look quite a bit better than the previous chain linked fences.

The also had a nice sitting area at the bottom with about 9 benches facing the valley below. This will definitely be a great place to leave those friends who don’t quite feel up to the adventure of hiking to the top.

There are also a couple of benches scattered through the first few switchbacks which will also be a nice place to sit an have a talk if you are hiking with someone special.

I’ve already hiked the Y three times this year, and I hope to be able to do another ten or so trips, to help keep me in shape for grander adventures which will surely come this summer.
